How I Used Visualization and Prayer to Build the Life I Saw in My Dreams—and How You Can Too

How I Used Visualization and Prayer to Build the Life I Saw in My Dreams—and How You Can Too

Throughout my life, I’ve felt guided by a deep sense of purpose, knowing that the man I am today is only a part of the man I’m destined to become. It’s as if I’ve glimpsed scenes from my future, visions as clear as those of Daniel in the Bible. Daniel would go to sleep, and the Lord would reveal to him dreams about his life and the world. Since childhood, I’ve been fascinated by that gift. Raised in the church, I heard stories of visions and divine insights, and I longed to experience them myself. I would pray at night, asking for revelations, and over time, as the Bible says, “Ask, and you shall receive.” Bit by bit, I started to see flashes of the life I was meant to lead.

The best way I can describe it is like a movie trailer, giving me glimpses of my future: a career in martial arts, mastering my craft, becoming an entrepreneur, running my own dojo, building an international brand, and finding the love and family I had always envisioned. I even saw my children—little reflections of myself, just as I had prayed for.

1. Developing the Gift of Visualization

From a young age, I began developing this gift, learning how to use visualization practically through martial arts. Initially, it was just daydreaming, but by the time I reached seventh grade and began playing public school sports, I saw how powerful visualization could be. I’d imagine myself running the ball, breaking through the defense, or making a key tackle. Through constant practice, what once felt like dreams became part of my game preparation.

2. The Power of Preparation and Belief

As I moved through grade school, my “edge” became my visualizations and prayers. Every time I imagined the game, I could see us winning, step by step. I trained harder, and in my mind, I rehearsed every play. When game day arrived, I was already prepared, even for unexpected challenges.

One game stood out. Our team was up against a powerhouse with an unstoppable quarterback, and it wasn’t looking good. But I reminded the team of my vision for us—that we would win. As my coach often said, “Stay calm and execute the game plan.” My sensei had taught me the same thing in kickboxing matches: stay calm, rely on training, and follow the plan. At halftime, I rallied the team, urging them to trust the vision and keep going.

In the second half, something clicked. The team began to believe, and we pushed through to victory. That game was a turning point. For the rest of the season, and even into high school, we carried that belief. We went undefeated in seventh and eighth grades, and once we reached high school, our team remained unstoppable until we lost in a heartbreaking semi-state game. But it was never just about winning. Visualizing success is also about preparing for setbacks and trusting in the journey, no matter the outcome.

3. Faith, Martial Arts, and the Bigger Picture

My faith and martial arts have shown me that visualization and prayer are not just about achieving victories but about seeing all possible outcomes—both good and bad—and surrendering them to God. It’s about focusing on what you can control and letting go of the rest.

I believe that my visions and blessings come from Jesus Christ. While not everyone shares this faith, I encourage everyone to practice visualizing their future. Think deeply about where you want to live, what kind of life you want to build, and what kind of person you want to become.

4. The Role of Writing in Self-Discovery

For me, writing has become a powerful tool to capture these thoughts and dreams. Writing is my way to process my thoughts, victories, challenges, and fears. It allows me to connect with myself and my Creator. Life is demanding, especially with family responsibilities, but I make time for reflection, even if it means sacrificing some Netflix.

5. Taking the First Step Toward Your Vision

I often coach others through these same practices, and I’d be happy to help you if you’re interested. If you want to dive deeper into your spirituality, refocus your mind, or make transformative changes in your life, reach out, and we can set up a session. If nothing else, I hope this story inspires you to start visualizing your life, documenting your journey, and trusting in the process.

Try it out and see where it takes you—you may just be surprised. Let me know how it goes!
