What to Expect from Training at House of Dragons: Your New Martial Arts Family

At House of Dragons (H.O.D.), we believe that martial arts is about more than just physical training – it’s about building a family, a strong community, and a sense of belonging. When you train with us, you’re not just joining a gym; you’re joining a clan.

Our House of Dragons family is built on trust, encouragement, and respect. We work together to help each other grow, push past limits, and celebrate victories. You’ll be surrounded by people who are committed to lifting each other up, cheering each other on, and supporting each other on and off the mat. This creates an environment where students of all ages can make lifelong friendships, feel more confident, and know they have a place to call home.

The Benefits of Joining Our Community

House of Dragons: Words of Honor

Nine Principles of Samurai Excellence and the Student Creed

At House of Dragons (H.O.D.), our dojo is built on a legacy of strength, respect, and honor, drawing from the samurai way to shape not only skilled fighters but also individuals of outstanding character. Our foundation rests on nine pivotal principles, inspired by the virtues of samurai excellence. These principles guide every student’s journey, teaching the values that fuel both martial arts and life outside the dojo.

Nine Principles of Samurai Excellence

  1. Courage (Yū): Embrace challenges with bravery. Courage allows us to face obstacles head-on, making us resilient in the face of adversity. At H.O.D., courage isn’t the absence of fear, but the strength to overcome it.

  2. Respect (Rei): Respect others, yourself, and the traditions of martial arts. A true warrior honors those who came before them, their opponents, and the dojo. Respect builds strong bonds, creating a community of mutual growth.

  3. Honor (Meiyo): Live with integrity. Honor is the commitment to uphold the values of H.O.D. and stand by them in all actions. When you carry honor, you carry the weight of responsibility for yourself and those who trust you.

  4. Compassion (Jin): Show empathy and kindness. A great warrior knows the power of compassion and helps those in need. Compassion enriches our spirit, reminding us that strength lies in protecting, not harming.

  5. Honesty (Makoto): Speak and act with truth. Honesty binds the House of Dragons, allowing trust to flourish among students and instructors. To be honest with others, one must first be true to oneself.

  6. Duty and Loyalty (Chūgi): Stand by your commitments and the people who depend on you. Loyalty to H.O.D. means dedicating oneself to the pursuit of martial excellence and supporting our fellow students.

  7. Self-Control (Seishin Tōitsu): Discipline is the foundation of mastery. Through self-control, we conquer inner struggles and gain mastery over body and mind. Our actions become intentional, focused, and aligned with our purpose.

  8. Endurance (Nintai): Strength and skill grow with perseverance. Endurance fuels our commitment to hard work and persistence, even when progress is slow. Every small step forward is a victory in our path.

  9. Humility (Kenson): Remain humble and willing to learn. No matter our rank or skill, there is always room to grow. A warrior of House of Dragons carries their strength with quiet confidence, knowing that true mastery is an endless journey.
